OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathy : A Holistic Approach to Health

Osteopathy is a manual therapy based on a holistic understanding of the human body. It is founded on the idea that all structures within the body are interconnected, and that balance between these structures is essential for overall health and optimal functioning.
Its primary goal is to restore mobility in the body’s tissues—joints, muscles, organs, fascia, and more—so the body can regain its natural balance and regulate itself more effectively.

The Origins of Osteopathy

Osteopathy was founded in the late 19th century by American physician Andrew Taylor Still. Disappointed by the limitations of conventional medicine at the time, he developed a new approach rooted in a detailed understanding of human anatomy and the belief in the body’s natural ability to heal itself when in balance.

In 1874, he laid the foundations of osteopathy and went on to open the first osteopathic school in the United States in 1892.

Since then, the discipline has continued to evolve and expand. Today, osteopathy is widely recognized and practiced in many countries, including France, where osteopathic education and training are strictly regulated.

Core Principles of Osteopathy

Osteopathy is built on several key principles:

  • The body is a unit: all parts of the body are connected and influence one another.

  • Structure governs function: an imbalance or restriction in movement can affect the proper function of an organ or system.

  • The body has self-healing capabilities: by improving circulation and restoring mobility, osteopathy supports the body’s natural healing processes.

  • Treatment is individualized: every patient is unique, and care is always adapted to their specific needs.

Who Is Osteopathy For?

Osteopathy is suitable for everyone: newborns, children, adults, pregnant women, athletes, and the elderly. It can be beneficial in a wide variety of situations, including:

  • Musculoskeletal pain (back, neck, joints, etc.)

  • Digestive issues, migraines, chronic fatigue

  • Pregnancy and postnatal care

  • Infant development and discomfort

  • Preparation for, or recovery after, physical activity

  •

Osteopaths use only their hands to assess and treat. A wide range of techniques may be applied, from direct methods (working into the restriction) to indirect techniques (following ease and release).

My Approach

In my practice, I use a variety of techniques tailored to each patient’s needs, including:

  • Joint mobilizations

  • Muscle energy techniques

  • Myofascial release

  • Craniosacral therapy

  • Somato-emotional techniques

  • Biodynamic osteopathy

  •

Each treatment is designed to gently support the body’s self-healing mechanisms while restoring fluidity, balance, and comfort.

From the very first session, my goal is to understand you — your lifestyle, your habits, and what brought you here. Through targeted assessments, I identify the root cause of your discomfort and how your body is responding. Based on these insights, I provide a personalized treatment tailored to your needs. Before you leave, I make sure you fully understand what’s going on in your body — empowering you with the knowledge to feel better, move better, and live better.
